Secret Q&A

Back with another week only this time we decided to do our first VLOG!

You can check it out on youtube and of course the audio version is available on the podcast since we didn't forget that it is National Podcast Day!

Here is a summary of the Q&A from this vlog and if you haven't checked it out yet go to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yztjpXP5uYU

Question 1: Why did you start a podcast?

So Adelynn only started listening to podcasts a little over a year ago and she found TheSkinnyConfidential podcast through Dr. Mona Vand and told me about it. Around that time, I was really just listening to youtube channels and the bigger pockets podcast because one of my attendings at work told me about it.

Anyways, since we're in the healthcare field we wanted to create a community where women are able to share their secrets, tips and tricks about health, beauty as well as, wellness. We see a lot of content being shared that we love but we wanted to do it in a way that is evidence based and backed by science. Basically, don't always believe what you read and even WEBMD does not have all the answers. Which is why we have patients coming in with a headache thinking automatically they have a brain tumor! To delve into it further, we chose to start with a podcast for our brand because you can listen to it at any time and personally, we are audio learners so we thought what better way to have people hear our content and passively store information that is of value.

Question 2: How do you balance traditional and alternative medicine in an individual approach?

If this is in respect to holistic or homeopathic medicine we balance this by assessing our patients needs and trying out these products ourselves, focusing on what really works. For example, CBD is not FDA approved for arthritis but if I have patients who say that this works for them then I will tell them the risks and benefits of using these products as well as, making sure that these medications even though they have promise should not be used instead of FDA approved medications for their specific condition. Ultimately, it is the patient's decision but you need to provide them with information to come to the right conclusion. So yes we do find a balance but we took an oath to first do no harm!

Question 3: How much protein is too much protein?

It mainly depends on what you're trying to do to your body with the protein. If you are trying to "bulk" up obviously protein will help. Keep in mind that there are calories involved in this, as well so you need to be able to understand what you are ingesting. For us we love to have a balance of eggs, meat and fish as our main sources of protein. Sometimes we will make smoothies or protein shakes but this is not something we use on a daily basis. Personal preference and needs is everything. As always remember, everything in moderation.

Question 4: Tell us about stem cells and anti aging?

We actually want to do a podcast episode on this because there are so many different things going on with respect to anti-aging. But if you want to start off with simple hacks use SPF! When it comes to stem cells it's a new realm that is all the craze right now, as stem cells can turn into any cell so recreating this can help a whole lot of ailments including but not limited to, anti aging. We are hoping to get into this field in the near future so we will definitely have to talk about this on an upcoming episode.

Question 5: What's your favorite SPF?

Adelynn's favorite is the Tatcha Pore Perfecting SPF and Samantha's favorite are the COOLA Silk Drops. Of course, if you listened to our episode on SPF you know that, mineral sunscreens are preferred over chemical ones, but if you have no option of course some SPF is better than no SPF and we ourselves use a variety of sunscreens.

Question 6: How do you exercise?

Adelynn prefers exercising in the morning to set herself up for the day and she starts by walking on the treadmill for 30 minutes. She increases the incline each time. She also enjoys doing squats and lunges. I prefer a full body workout to mix a little bit of cardio, abs, arms and legs. I either do an hour four days a week or an hour and a half three days a week depending on how busy the week gets. Give us your tips regarding upper body workouts in the comments section below!

Question 7: What is your favorite place to visit?

Adelynn's favorite is LA when it comes to the United States. We also both love Miami which we can talk about why on a later episode. Hint: Sam lived there for a little while. When it comes to abroad? Both of our favorites is Italy!

Question 8: What vitamins do you guys use?

Ritual vitamins! We have a link on this website so you can go and try them out, we highly recommend! www.ritu.al/secret.com. Go back and listen to our two podcast episodes on both water soluble and fat soluble vitamins. We dispel how you can get all your vitamin needs through various dietary sources!

Question 9: What is your favorite quick meal?

We love salads! It is the best meal literally. You can mix it up and add chicken to it or use it as a side with meat or chicken. You can throw in various nuts, fruits, prosciutto, etc. Salads are the easiest way to get full and to have a good, healthy meal. Also, we've been loving cauliflower! You can make gnocchi out of it, mash or even rice. Adelynn will be doing a video for us soon!

Question 10: Brands you're loving right now?

The Skinny Confidential, Heather McMahan, Gary Vee, Healthy with Nedi (Adelynn loves the Nedi Martini, it's her go to with Casa Amigos tequila instead of vodka)

Question 11: What podcasts are you guys listening to?

The Ed Mylett, Absolutely Not, TSC, Bigger Pockets, Accidental Creative, Daily News, The Bitch Bible, NEJM (for medicine people), TED Talks, Robinhood Snacks, among others.

Secret Tips of the Week:

Adelynn's Secret Tip: Black Eye patches. She places them into the fridge first before putting them on her face. It helps to decrease puffiness and dark circles.

Samantha's Secret Tip: Get a cup of water, boil it and drink a hot cup of water first thing when you wake up in the morning. It helps to curb your appetite, get your body going and start your required daily fluid intake (Fun fact: you can add apple cider vinegar or lemon to it.)

Thank you guys so much for listening as we were definitely shy for our first episode but overall we feel like we're happy that we did this and we hope you enjoy it! Don't forget to leave us feedback and as always we hope you are continuously making your dreams come true. If there is anything you want to do, go ahead and do it now! Don't let anyone stop you and don't let the fear of other peoples judgment hold you back. Someone will always have something to say so you need to do what is best for you.

That's all for this week, don't forget to leave us feedback, rate, review, subscribe and send in your questions so we can continue to improve as well as, provide you high quality content!
